Persuasion or influence on the other hand is the process of letting the other side do what you want them to do. Often the art of persuasion is called negotiation. These skills are important in many jobs, especially in areas such as marketing, sales, advertising, and buying, but are also valuable in everyday life. You will often find merit-based questions on these skills in application forms and interviews, where you will need to provide evidence that you have developed these skills. In a global dialogue research project, we asked respondents which persuasion strategy they would use in such a situation. The overall responses of the four alternatives on offer are shown on the graph. The highest turnout was to ask the other party to present their point; After asking questions.
